Description:
Join us for a special tour of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore and gain firsthand exposure to the environment where University of Maryland Forensic Medicine students have opportunities for shadowing and hands-on learning. During the tour, prospective students will learn what makes the OCME unique and why its work is so important at the State and National levels. Discover the vital role Medical Examiners (MEs) play in investigating unexpected, unexplained, and suspicious deaths—and how their work contributes to public health, public safety, and the pursuit of answers for families and communities. The experience will include a presentation about the OCME, a brief tour of the OCME facility, with stops that may include Nutshells, Scarpetta House, and, depending on time and active cases, the observation area. Tour access and activities may vary based on the OCME's operational needs and case activity.
Registration period closes Tuesday, September 22, 2026
